In June 2024, we had the honour of participating in the European Civil Protection Forum in Brussels. This significant event brought together experts, policymakers, and stakeholders from across Europe to discuss and shape the future of civil protection and disaster management. The Forum’s theme, “Building Resilience in a Changing World,” resonated with the challenges we collectively face today, particularly as we grapple with the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters.

The Forum provided a valuable opportunity for networking. Connecting with professionals from various sectors, including government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector, was incredibly enriching. These interactions have opened potential avenues for collaboration, which we are eager to explore further.

In particular, the AWARE advanced concept of combining the Galileo EWSS and the Copernicus Emergency Management Service has been discussed with representatives of the DG-ECHO and the Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC).

In conclusion, participating in the European Civil Protection Forum 2024 was a deeply rewarding experience. It reinforced our commitment to advancing the field of disaster management and highlighted the crucial role of collaboration and innovation in building a safer, more resilient Europe.
